Sooji Dhoklas
Dhoklas are one of my favourites. I can munch on it any time, be it breakfast,lunch or dinner.And the dhoklas can be any type too khaman,khatta dhokla or sooji dhokla.
The best part is that you dont need to think twice or worry about weight before snacking on it. Its very light and healthy.
Ingredients
Sooji/Semolina 1 cups
Gramflour/ Besan 1 tbsp
Curd 1/3 cup
Eno Fruit Salt /eating soda 1 tsp
Sugar 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp(optional)
Chilli Ginger Paste to taste
Lemon juice 1 tsp
Oil 2 tsp
Salt to taste.
For tempering:
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Green Chillies,finely chopped 2 (optional)
Curry Leaves 6-7
Oil 1 tbsp
Chopped Corinder 1 tbsp
Grated Coconut 1 tbsp(optional)
Method:
1.Take 1 cup sooji in a bowl.Add besan,salt,sugar,chilli ginger paste and oil.
2.Now add the curd and enough water to make a batter.The consistency should be like of idli batter.
3.Cover and leave aside for 1/2 an hour.
4.Add in a little more water if needed now. Add in Eno fruit salt or soda and the lemon juice. I have used soda.mix well.
5. pour the batter into a greased pan and put it into a steamer..
6. Steam for about 15 mins. Poke a knife to check if it comes out clean.
7.Take it out. Let it cool for a while and then tranfer to a separate plate and cut into pieces.
8. For the tempering, heat oil in a karahi/pan.Add mustard seeds. when it starts to splutter, add green chillies and curry leaves. Add the dhokla pieces and mix well.
9. Garnish with coriander leaves and grated coconut.
10. Serve hot with tamarind chutney or chutney of your choice.
