Broccoli in white sauce
From a long time, i wanted to cook and eat broccoli because broccoli has always been known to be a wonder vegetables for its anti-cancer properties.I only ate it at the Chinese restaurant back in India. It was then here in Indonesia my search for a broccoli recipe intensified. After lot of hits and trials i finally loved this recipe. Though i enjoy steamed garlic broccoli in the restaurants,back at home i enjoy Broccoli in white sauce.
Broccoli's noteworthy nutrients include Vitamin C, Vitamin A(beta-carotene), folic acid, calcium and fiber.
Ingredients:
Broccoli cut into florets (along with stem)- 1
Butter - 2 tbsp
All purpose flour - 2tbsp
Milk - 2 cups
Salt - to taste
White Pepper - 1tsp
Sugar - 1tsp
Cheddar Cheese - 1 Slice
Water - as required
Method:
Steam the broccoli in 2 cups water for 5 mins adding salt. Drain water and keep the broccoli aside.Heat butter in a pan and add all purpose flour. Keep stirring until it leaves a sweet aroma.Be careful not to burn it. Now add milk little by little stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Add salt,sugar and white pepper. Slip in a cheese slice.The white sauce is ready. You can adjust the consistency of the sauce by adding water. Add steamed broccoli and mix.

White Pepper - 1tsp
Sugar - 1tsp
Cheddar Cheese - 1 Slice
Water - as required
